Clean Energy

The Concept

There are countless streams and creeks flowing through our backyards all across America and the world. We can use the water flowing through these streams to create energy to power our homes!

Mother nature provides us with the essential building blocks to do work: water, gravity, and space!

W = m * g * s

where:

m = mass (our Water)

g = acceleration (Gravity)

s = displacement (the drop in elevation)

Using our understanding of the world, we can harness our resources and use them in a way that is clean, natural, and harmless to the environment.

Our Parameters.

Our stream has very low head pressure, with an equivalent drop in elevation of about 4 feet. Luckily, our stream always has water running through it: a minimum of 8 gallons/minute measured simply by filling a bucket with known volume.

We’ll use these parameters to specify our most efficient micro-hydroelectric system.

Our Tools.

We’ll need the following basic tools to get started. Each tools’ specifications will be selected based on our individual parameters and will change on a case-by-case basis.

Wheel - To capture the water most effectively.

Linkages / Gearing - To balance the torque generated vs. speed of rotation.

Generator - To convert rotational energy into electricity.

Batteries (optional) - To store our created energy.

DC / AC inverter (optional) - To prepare our electricity for transmission and use.

Wire - To carry our current.

Build it.
